Who are we looking for? The Bedford location of Trim Landscaping is looking for a leader of the entire construction team to deliver successful construction projects to our customers in Nova Scotia. This leader would have experience in field construction, higher-level project delivery and leadership of a high-performance team. The candidate we seek is a driven problem-solver who promotes safety and wants to be a critical part of improving and growing the overall business. What will you be responsible for? This position is paramount to the company\xe2\x80\x99s financial success and overall customer service. All duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee the execution and scheduling of construction projects including labor, equipment, materials and other resources to ensure the successful completion of jobs within project deadlines
  • Coach, mentor and lead project teams for successful project delivery for internal profitability and customer service
  • Lead and manage accountability across project lifecycle \xe2\x80\x93 employees, subs, suppliers etc.
  • Aid in estimating process & job costing with Head Estimator and/or owners
  • Aid in value-engineering of projects with Head Estimator
  • Aid in company development, planning and execution of strategic direction
  • Assign projects and conduct handover meetings with Project Managers and Crew Leaders to transfer all knowledge, details and expectations prior to start-up of each project.
  • Develop & implement new systems, process and standards for more efficient workflows to increase project success
  • Negotiate customer contracts, with suppliers for materials and subcontractors for services
  • Oversee ongoing tracking of project values, expenses and overall job budgets
  • Oversee procurement and ordering materials and equipment on projects; monitor and schedule accordingly for short and long lead time items
  • Oversee human resources of construction crews with aid from Human Resource Manager, including recruitment, hiring, training, policy enforcement, mentoring, discipline & termination
  • Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines
  • Conduct project debriefs for successes, failures and learnings with project teams
  • Review and manage schedule of values and changes orders for monthly invoicing
  • Comply with and enforce all company policies, regulations, and standards
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members comply with government and company PPE standards
  • Other duties as required and as assigned within acceptable workload
What do we Require?
  • Minimum 7 years construction experience
  • Proven leadership of a high-performance team
  • CMT, PMP, Gold Seal or other relevant post-secondary education
  • Landscape or civil construction background is an asset
