A Day in the Life

As Director of Communications and Campaigns, you will report directly to the Operations Director and will be responsible for developing and managing the key components of an effective communication plan and strategy. Here's what you can expect to dig into in this exciting, hands-on role: * Own the planning and execution of a communications strategy with confidence and expertise.

  • Take ownership of running campaigns on our website, social media platforms, and email to promote UFCW to specific audiences.
  • Streamline both internal and external communications among the team, members, and key stakeholders while facilitating productive working relationships.
  • Maintain UFCW's brand and key messaging while marketing to external parties.
  • Oversee and support a small team of employees, ensuring they are set up for success and thrive in a positive work culture that you help foster.
  • Encourage a collaborative and team-building environment through open communication, building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Be an inspiring leader to those around you - motivate, mentor, and encourage supervisors and others on your team.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Exceptional written skills and ability to write copy for various platforms to target specific audiences.
  • Proficient in utilizing different platforms to reach external stakeholders for maximum messaging impact.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with those around you to achieve goals together.
  • Unmatched communications skills; you not only have outstanding interpersonal skills but understand the system and intricate strategies behind communication as well.
  • High energy, a can-do attitude, and fresh ideas that will advance our growth as an organization.
  • Strong ability to think strategically, set priorities, and develop actionable plans to achieve goals using your innovative mindset.
  • Ability to work cooperatively while fostering a climate of shared respect and collaboration.
  • Confident with multi-directional management, giving and receiving feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and proven ability to step in and resolve conflict between team members when necessary.
Your Qualifications
  • 5 years of communications experience with 2-3 years of managerial experience.
  • Extensive and proven work experience executing successful campaigns using a variety of print and online communications.
  • Previous work experience in government, environmental, non-profit, or similar operation.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how to manage stakeholder relations and openly communicate with partners.
  • Experience in managing people, overseeing their work, and identifying when to step in with support.
It's a Bonus If You Have
  • Experience using a CRM system.
  • A background in social justice.
  • An advanced degree in a related field.
  • Website or design experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages.
