School Director L'Albero Magico - Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced
Director of Scuola D'Infanzia (Childcare Services)
to oversee and grow our Reggio Emilia-inspired childcare program. The Director will be responsible for strategic planning, staff management, curriculum oversight, financial administration, and community outreach. This is a leadership role requiring a strong understanding of Italian language acquisition, early childhood development, and operational best practices in childcare.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Reggio Emilia pedagogy and fluency in Italian (native or near-native proficiency preferred).
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management
Lead daily operations of the childcare centre.
Develop and implement long-term school strategic goals.
Supervise, hire, and support professional development for staff.
Conduct regular staff performance evaluations.
Ensure a high standard of care and teaching across programs.
Curriculum & Program Development
Oversee curriculum design in alignment with Reggio Emilia principles and early learning goals.
Ensure curriculum supports language development, cognitive growth, and social-emotional learning.
Collaborate with staff to integrate Italian language and culture throughout programming.
Evaluate and update programs to meet evolving best practices.
Operations & Administration
Manage budgeting, enrollment, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Ensure full compliance with BC childcare licensing regulations and health & safety standards.
Handle tuition billing, financial reporting, and grant applications (e.g., Italian government funding).
Prepare and manage the annual childcare budget.
Family & Community Engagement
Build strong, responsive relationships with families.
Organize family events, parent-teacher conferences, and cultural programming.
Lead community language outreach initiatives in collaboration with parents and staff.
Communicate regularly with families about their children's development and school updates.
Marketing & Enrollment
Partner with the Marketing Department to increase enrollment and visibility.
Oversee a streamlined, tech-supported enrollment process.
Support the development of marketing content across website, social media, and promotional materials.
Health & Safety
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, safety, and emergency preparedness.
Oversee and regularly review health and safety protocols.
Technology & Innovation
Implement technology tools for learning, assessment, and administration.
Utilize virtual and blended learning platforms where appropriate.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Education, Linguistics, or related field (master's preferred)
Reggio Emilia training or experience preferred
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within education or childcare
At least 3 years in a language-focused educational environment
Knowledge of early childhood education best practices
Financial literacy and administrative proficiency
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Technologically adept in both education and office management tools
Working Conditions
Full-time role with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends
Active and engaging environment with frequent interaction with staff, children, and families
Occasional local travel for training and community engagement
Compensation & Benefits
$75,000 - $85,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
