Here is the opportunity:

Futurpreneur is seeking a Director, Marketing & Communications responsible for developing and executing integrated, multi-channel brand, marketing, communications and public relations strategies that support Futurpreneur's business priorities. This includes national and regional marketing and communications campaigns, plans, and approaches to reach and engage with multiple audiences: entrepreneurs, mentors, and partners.

The Director, Marketing & Communications is responsible for leading the annual marketing planning activities and overseeing external communications and storytelling, including but not limited to marketing materials, media communications, digital engagement (web sites, digital marketing, and social media), and corporate documents (i.e., Annual Reports). They will be responsible for ensuring brand consistency and graphic integrity in all communications across the organization.

The successful candidate will also be an active participant on Futurpreneur's Leadership Team, comprising key national and regional leaders. The incumbent will report to the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) and manage a team of marketing, communication, and public relations professionals.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Toronto, ON. The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office).

What they will do:

Marketing Communications Strategy and Planning

  • Supports the CXO in developing the organization's brand, communications and growth strategies and develops executable plans to successfully deliver the planned outcomes.
  • Develops a flexible annual departmental operating plan that aligns with the organization's overall strategic business plan, new partnerships and priorities.
  • Oversees and supports the team with the annual marketing planning activities in collaboration with the Business Development VP and regional leaders that will ensure the organization meets business plan objectives including growth, operational and partner targets
  • Collaborates with the Corporate and Public Affairs Team in partnership development, fundraising and new program roll-out.
  • Actively promotes Futurpreneur brand awareness to sustain and build a stronger organizational reputation on local, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Ensures digital marketing and social media strategies are included in all marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Leads the go-to-market strategies for new and existing national-level offerings.
  • Works collaboratively with teams to establish a measurement and evaluation framework for marketing and communications, capturing stakeholder feedback and identifying actionable insights to further support the organization's strategic priorities.
Marketing & Communications Operations
  • Oversees the development and execution of national, regional and partnership marketing and communications campaigns, plans, and approaches to reach and engage with multiple audiences: entrepreneurs, mentors, partners and funders, with the aim of increasing participation in Futurpreneur programs and events.
  • Supports the development of media relations plans and approaches to engage local, regional, national, and international media, promoting and profiling Futurpreneur, its impact and its extended network.
  • Manages and assesses the return on investment as it relates to marketing and communications activities tied to lead generation and strategic priorities.
  • Supports the development of fundraising packages and communications strategies in collaboration with the Corporate and Public Affairs team.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of the national digital presence including websites, social media channels, annual entrepreneur gift guide and other public-facing digital assets from a marketing and communications perspective, including content strategy.
  • Plans and leads the rollout of new initiatives, products and platforms from a marketing and communications perspective.
  • Develops strong relationships and collaborates with vendors and partners to drive national and regional marketing activities that align with strategic priorities.
Team Management, Learning and Development
  • Leads and develops the marketing and communications team.
  • Recruits, and onboards new team members and develops existing team members to advance their areas of expertise and ensure they have the requisite skills to form part of a high-performance team.
  • Collaborates with the Talent and Culture team on their commitments including the development of role profiles, performance management, staff engagement, recruitment, learning and development and identification of team skill gaps.
  • Creates opportunities for individual and team feedback and support with open communication, providing coaching and guidance as needed.
Budget Management
  • Sets and manages marketing and communications budgets in alignment with national and regional strategic objectives.
  • Meets regularly with the finance team to monitor budget and report variances.
  • Establishes benchmarks and monitors cost effectiveness of key activities (i.e., cost per lead, effectiveness of sponsorship costs, conversion, web performance).
What they will bring:
  • Relevant experience may include education with a focus in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field or/and equivalent hands-on career experience
  • Seven (7) to Fifteen (15) years of professional experience developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing and communications programs, including managing teams.
  • Experience as a strategic integrated marketer with a track record of developing, implementing, and managing complex, multi-channel, marketing and communications strategies including digital and social media.
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining high efficiency and thorough attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple, competing deadlines
  • Experience in developing and executing all forms of digital and traditional communications.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior-level executives to achieve shared outcomes, as well as with external stakeholders in a wide variety of business disciplines, as well as effectively managing multiple resources.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong English writing and editing skills
  • English fluency is required and French (oral and written) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Click Dimensions, Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn ad platforms or equivalent marketing and customer relations management platforms is preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically InDesign and proficiency in WordPress are an asset.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector, social finance, or the entrepreneur support ecosystem is an asset.
