The Director, Indigenous and Public Programs (IPP) is responsible for setting and leading strategic direction, marketing and community engagement for Emergent\xe2\x80\x99s Indigenous and Public Programs in Canada. This leader will ensure a high volume of account pull-through by building and maintaining effective relationships with government, public health agencies and national organizations across Canada. The role will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to direct reports in marketing and community engagement. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, strategic, well-spoken, results-oriented person with the ability to work proactively and confidently with cross-functional stakeholders internally and with all external stakeholders including government leadership. This a hybrid role with a strong preference for a candidate living in the Ontario.

Essential Functions

  • Working collaboratively with the Commercial Leadership Team and Government Affairs team to establish a business plan to meet and exceed access and pull-through goals for various account types including county and local government, Opioid Treatment Programs, Naloxone Distribution Programs, Public Health Agencies, and other similar and/or large strategic accounts.
  • Develop strategies and tactics to exceed objectives for the IPP market as noted within the overall Canadian business plan, prepare, and present an annual business unit plan and monthly update reports, analyzing each market channel potential, and Emergent\xe2\x80\x99s product\xe2\x80\x99s market share, challenges/opportunities.
  • Oversee and manage commercial budget for Indigenous and Public Programs; establish sales goals and manage/track expenditures vs. impact
  • Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports on the development and execution of tactical plans that support the top line and bottom-line objectives and results
  • Increase utilization of NARCAN NASAL SPRAY 4MG through effective communication and adherence to a sequential process which includes preparation of client-specific presentations and other data to respond to client needs and effectively gain access;
  • Determine and anticipate potential changes within the government and community health care marketplace and have the agility to quickly take advantage of new business opportunities, working with the Government Affairs team so the appropriate steps can be initiated;
  • Identify and target decision-makers in busy government and community healthcare centers to influence vendor selection;
  • Leverage effective practices and processes to enable collaboration across functions, business units and cross-functional leaders
  • Expand knowledge base by: attending related educational programs; reviewing clinical publications; establishing personal networks with abuse deterrent, government and community healthcare partners and participate in local professional societies;
  • This role will also work in conjunction with various departments within the organization to drive access and remove barriers to the company\xe2\x80\x99s products;
  • Identify and target decision-makers in busy government and community healthcare centers to influence vendor selection;
  • Work collaboratively with the Commercial Leadership Team and Government Affairs to expedite growth in new and existing prescriber accounts.

Education, Experience & Skills
  • Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree or equivalent in the relevant field required.
  • A minimum of 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience across pharmaceutical/biotech sales and marketing roles with documented successes.
  • Prior experience with opioid antagonist or related products and/or experience within substance abuse treatment environment preferred.
  • Understanding and passion to assist those suffering from chronic substance abuse, dependency and the associated comorbid conditions.
  • Understanding of how the political environment (both local and national) can affect patient access to products.
  • Awareness of and openness/curiosity to learn and celebrate the traditions, heritage and culture of First Nation, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis people across Canada
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to optimize revenue growth, profitability, customer service and human productivity
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to develop teams and inspire them to give their best everyday
  • High integrity and excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Ability to build trust, strong relationships, quickly win and sustain credibility with both internal and key customer stakeholders is essential
  • Strong business analytic skills to assess potential opportunities across the region
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple high priorities, identify resource needs, drive to completion, prepare reports, and evaluate results.
  • Skilled in presenting and tailoring presentation to audience, engaging audience and adapting to last minute change
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Some travel may be required, including overnights.
