Job Summary The Director will be involved in supporting many functions such as effective monitoring and control on all material credit risks across RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Real Estate Lending Portfolio, and assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit.You will focus on maintaining the risk profile, alignment with the business, operational effectiveness, sharing best practices with business partners and working towards high level of efficiency in management of assigned portfolios, and enhancing the client experience.What is the opportunity?The Group Risk Management Real Estate team provides independent assessment of business and financial risks for individual borrowers as a 2nd Line of Defense in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Governance. The Director will be involved in supporting many functions such as effective monitoring and control on all material credit risks across RBC\xe2\x80\x99s Real Estate Lending Portfolio, and assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit.You will focus on maintaining the risk profile, alignment with the business, operational effectiveness, sharing best practices with business partners and working towards high level of efficiency in management of assigned portfolios, and enhancing the client experience.What will you do?

  • Adjudicate Real Estate credit applications within your delegated lending limits. Influence portfolio quality through strategic assessment of risk, attention to data quality and knowledge-sharing.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and been followed to protect shareholder interests.
  • Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures and mitigate risks as necessary.
  • Deliver consistent decisions with solid communication of rationale for support, amendments or declines. Ensure clients and colleagues are treated with respect, a highly professional empathetic approach is used, and good working relationships are maintained.
  • Look for, and act upon, opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices. Partner with stakeholders to achieve collective results.
  • Act as a catalyst to ensure team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s desired risk profile.
  • Take initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication fully utilizing other resources including other risk teams.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
  • Undergrad degree in business or risk related field, Masters in Finance or Risk, MBA and in pursuit of CFA/FRM designation preferred
  • Strong risk assessment & financial analysis skills
  • Business and financial insight
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Nice-to-have
  • Previous credit skills with a high degree of proficiency, preferably in risk management, commercial banking, and/or real estate lending experience
  • In-depth knowledge of RBC risk policies, procedures & practices, folios, etc.
  • Proficiency with Bank\xe2\x80\x99s internal platforms, such as Synergy and Newton
  • Knowledge of financial modelling
