Job Summary

The Director, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) plays a key role in using data and an evidence-based framework to plan, develop and communicate the strategy to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion. Partnering with external expertise and supporting the Executive Team in leading the EDI strategy across the organization, the Director will play a critical role in operationalizing a plan and project managing the implementation of programs and tactics to realize the EDI strategy. This includes acting as a subject matter expert and collaborating with departments enterprise wide on the engagement and sustainment of EDI efforts, and coordinating any EDI activities related to policies, practices, organizational learnings, staff development or other programs.

Planning

  • In close collaboration with external expertise and the Executive Team, help design and lead the implementation of an OMA EDI strategy. Through an inclusive and collaborative approach, lead the development of a strategic road map with annual program of initiatives that will lead to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Enabling
  • Partner with Learning & Development team to develop curriculum and training plans that build understanding of systemic racism, underrepresented and marginalized groups and cultural competency for all staff.
  • Plan and coordinate EDI-related staff events and other resources using OMA Learning Management System, LinkedIn Learning and StaffSpace.
Operationalizing
  • Drive and coordinate the annual EDI program of planned tactics and initiatives utilizing project management tools.
  • Seek to understand the OMA culture and actively embrace change management techniques to cultivate meaningful EDI progress across the organization.
  • Identify barriers and develop recommendations to ensure talent management policies, practices and systems are equitable and enable the retention, development, and advancement of under-represented and marginalized groups.
  • Advise and assist with incorporating an EDI lens into departmental goals, policies, and practices. For example, improving equity and diversity through OMA recruitment and selection practices, and improving inclusion through onboarding and management practices.
Communicating & Consulting
  • Develop and support mechanisms for continued communication and consultation across the office, to better understand, support and pinpoint areas that are opportunities for positive change.
  • In collaboration with the Employee Communication & Engagement team, keep the staff updated on EDI initiatives, progress, and resources available.
Monitoring
  • Manage and maintain Diversity analytics, including survey development, establishing a baseline, tracking metrics and benchmarks, sharing analysis, and generating diversity and inclusion reports for various stakeholders to highlight trends and demonstrate impact of EDI programs and initiatives.
Organizational Alignment
  • Serves as subject matter expert and trusted advisor to Executive Team on equity, diversity, and inclusion in programs, policies, practices, culture, and learnings.
  • Ensure alignment with organization-wide EDI efforts, including but not limited to, work through the Civility, Diversity, Inclusion committee.
Requirements That Are Important to Us
  • Post-Secondary Education in Diversity Studies, Human Rights, Social Justice, or a related Discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in Diversity and inclusion.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in health administration, public policy, equity studies, or acceptable combination of relevant/equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ years\' experience facilitating Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives in high-performing organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and direct experience advancing underrepresented and marginalized groups.
  • Proven experience in change management, and project management. Adept in the analysis and presentation of data.
  • Diplomatic, with emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. Strong attention to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Alternative dispute resolution and formal facilitation and consensus experience preferred.
