. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Management
Provide strategic leadership in the development, communication, and administration of programs that enable the organization to attract, retain, and motivate top research talent
Provide direction and oversight of the research team, and allocate staffing resources based on prioritized projects, grant documentation, and student and staff needs
Full scope of managerial discretion on hiring, performance reviews, and discipline up to and including termination
Non-academic supervision and mentorship of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and international trainees, fostering an environment of excellence in epidemiologic research
Lead multi-disciplinary research teams (epidemiologists, biostatisticians, clinicians, linguists) through projects. Ensuring deliverables are met, analytics completed with accuracy, and outcomes align with research labs development
Provide scientific leadership and direction for advanced epidemiologic research in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and gastrointestinal health
Lead the conception, design, and implementation of national and international studies, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and global research needs
Finance
Accountable for large-scale research budgets, including national and international grants and scholarships
Lead the development and oversight of short- and long-range financial plans to meet program objectives and grant deliverables
Ensure budget planning, forecasting, and management of research financial activities, including salary commitments, international collaboration costs, and computing infrastructure
Prepare detailed budget justifications for national and international funders
Negotiate budget allocations with partner institutions
Research and Technical Skills
Apply advanced expertise in statistical modeling, time-series forecasting, and population health data analysis to estimate disease burden across diverse jurisdictions
Design complex statistical models (e.g., time-series, Bayesian, segmented regression) to project disease burden
Develop national and international burden of disease models integrating population data, administrative datasets, and time-series projections
Conduct cost analyses and advanced statistical analyses (e.g., forecasting), providing evidence that could inform policy and planning
Translate advanced statistical outputs into actionable insights that can inform health system planning and policymaking, both nationally and internationally
Qualifications / Requirements:
PhD in Epidemiology or advanced degree in a closely related discipline
Minimum 10 years of research experience with demonstrated expertise in forecasting, longitudinal analysis, and time series modelling in population health research
Recognized internationally as a leading scholar in disease trend forecasting
Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex research projects from conception through to dissemination
Proven skill in building and sustaining international research collaborations
Advanced proficiency in STATA and R; a working knowledge of SAS and Python is considered assets
Demonstrated ability to secure and manage large-scale national and international research grants
In-depth knowledge of research ethics processes, data governance frameworks, and legal contract procedures for multi-jurisdictional health data
Proven ability to mentor and supervise highly qualified and academically diverse personnel, including postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, international trainees, and research staff
Established record of presentations at national and international scientific forums
Established record of high-impact publications
