This role contributes to Starbucks success by leading both distribution and transportation teams within the Canadian supply chain organization with a key focus on strategic planning, distribution expertise and management of the strategic relationships to enable the distribution and transportation team to develop innovative, cost effective and scalable systems and processes.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results

  • Develop Canadian vision in line with North American strategy and in partnership with US counterparts
  • Oversee critical distribution network strategic initiatives and strategic design to prepare for future business needs
  • Ensures a strategic understanding of supply chain industry evolution to anticipate technology needs for future organizational initiatives
  • Leads and develops long-term supply chain strategy and business innovation opportunities consistent with the business needs of the company and aligned with the North American business and anticipated growth.
  • Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs and strategies are aligned with company business goals and objectives
  • Prepares, communicates, and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization
  • Ensure vision alignment with 3rd party distribution and Transportation community
Business Requirements - proving functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
  • Leads the team's effort in the development requests for proposals, bid analyses and contract negotiation with third party providers, as required to support business requirements
  • Leads the design and implementation of distribution network models, processes, and distribution systems that support business decisions for market growth and distribution, capacity, and location requirements.
  • Develops and manages the annual budget, contracts, contingency plans, and ongoing strategic relationships with third-party logistics providers to improve services levels and business requirements
  • Responsibility for annual managed expenses at
$50M * Develops strategic plan for the functional area.
  • Leads the development and management of integrated cross-functional strategic projects.
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability and modeling how we work together:
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
  • Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
  • Advises and influences senior management on budgeting and priorities to gain alignment and deliver uniform, best in class processes
  • Influences new organization ideas, fosters team creativity, and cultivates growth mindset
  • Establishes and maintains influential working relationships to successfully promote strategies and innovative ideas
Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
  • Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
  • Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
  • Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partners, business and customer results
Qualifications

Summary of Experience:
  • Strategic planning within supply chain management (10 years)
  • Third-party logistics management, contract negotiations and budgeting (10 years)
  • Warehouse and system inventory system implementation (5 years)
  • Food service or food company transportation and distribution operations (5 years)
  • Managing varied distribution and logistics operations (5 years)
Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Strategic planning skills
  • Financial management and budgeting skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge of business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Broad knowledge of company operations, policies, and procedures
  • Contract negotiation skills
