Overview

The Director - Fundraising and Public Relations will report to and be in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as they together support & implement Ray of Hope's vision, mission & core actions. The Director - Fundraising and Public Relations will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and execution of all fundraising and public relations initiatives for Ray of Hope, including donor engagement, stewardship, grants, events, marketing, social media and public relations. The Director - Fundraising and Public Relations will be a member of the Senior Management Team at Ray of Hope.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all fundraising and public relations activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Ray of Hope, a Christian Service Organization.
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership, as well as stewardship of Ray of Hope by being actively invested in all programs and services.
  • Develop and execute a robust Fundraising Plan for the agency
  • Develop and execute a robust Public Relations Plan including but not limited to marketing and social media for the agency.
  • Develop and execute the fundraising and communications strategies for the organization.
  • Develop and execute, in collaboration with managers, and executive team, strategic goals and initiatives for program areas.
  • Lead, mentor and evaluate Fundraising Coordinator
  • Manage all aspects of donor acquisition and engagement including monthly donors, individual giving, grants and foundations, legacy giving, major donors, and corporate and financial community partnerships.
  • Manage all aspects of communications and marketing for the organization in partnership with Executive and Senior Management
  • Research and initiate new development, media, and other PR opportunities to expand Ray of Hope's public profile and donor base.
  • Ensure the branding and messaging of the organization is consistent with Ray of Hope's mission, vision and action statements.
  • Support team members in representing the agency at local/regional churches, community groups, government officials, and public and internal functions.
In order to be successful in this position, incumbents must uphold, support, and implement Ray of Hope's Mission, Vision and Action Statements. The incumbent must display integrity, compassion, respect, professionalism, engagement, and reliability.

Qualifications
Education
  • Completion of post-secondary education in fundraising, public relations, business or related field
Experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a fundraising, development and/or communications role, with management experience
  • Experience in donor relations
Certifications
? CFRE Certification is an asset.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities to be successful in this position
  • Knowledge of strategic and operational planning.
  • Aptitude for budgeting, forecasting and ongoing fundraising analysis.
  • Strong leadership qualities to quickly establish trust, respect, and buy-in amongst stakeholders, donors and staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge and experience with donor database software
  • Ability to utilize and manage social media platforms and support website management.
  • Knowledge and compassion for the complex challenges and demographics of the persons we support at Ray of Hope is an asset.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension in the English language.
