As a key member of the Global Business Deposits team, this role establishes portfolio level deposit objectives and contributes to the overall success of Scotiabank\'s Global Transaction Banking (GTB) deposit portfolio by overseeing specific initiatives and ensuring they are executed / delivered in support of Business Line and All Bank business strategies and objectives. The Director is a key point of contact for Business Line partners on business deposits at the portfolio level: Global Banking & Markets (GBM), Canadian Banking (CB), Global Wealth Management (GWM), and Internation Banking (IB). In addition, this role works closely with other Directors on the Global Business Deposits team who are responsible for Product Management, Deposit Sales and Client Level/Relationship Deposit Pricing. Together with the direct reports, this role is data & analytics heavy to provide a comprehensive perspective on the Bank\'s business deposit portfolios as it relates to products, pricing, technology, liquidity, regulatory value, and oversees the financial reporting, planning, forecasting functions for the Global Business Deposits team while working closely with Finance & Group Treasury.Incumbent possesses strong technical, financial and analytical skills as well as the ability to communicate to a broad audience including Scotiabank executives. The incumbent also possesses leadership skills as well as strong knowledge of GTB products, services and operations.What You\'ll Do:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Contributes to the development of Bank wide deposit strategies.
  • Identifies and drives new revenue opportunities, reduced costs and improved operational efficiencies.
  • Directs in-depth portfolio analysis to identify underlying trends by segment/market.
  • Identifies segment and/or market specific opportunities for, or obstacles to, deposit growth.
  • Strategically influences business partners (Group Treasury, Finance, Sales and Business Line Management) to gain support for GTB deposit acquisition strategies.
  • Represents GTB in cross-functional meetings with Finance, Group Treasury and business partners (i.e. monthly ALCO meetings, Deposit Leadership forums, and Deposit Portfolio Oversight Committee).
  • Lobbies internal and external stakeholders where required to obtain their buy-in and resources to proceed with projects.
  • Provides business advice to Business Line partners and Group Treasury to optimize balance sheet within liquidity risk appetite.
  • Leads the design, development and production of key financial and strategic reports for the global business deposit portfolio, including product, segment and country profitability, performance, and sales results.
  • Leads presentations targeting internal audiences (e.g. senior executives).
  • Analyzes financial performance and monitors appropriate performance measurement criteria and key metrics, providing insights to leadership.
  • Analysis of results includes monthly and quarterly results, Bluebook, forecasts, annual plan, business line dashboards, monthly presentations, among others.
  • Leads development and production of annual profit planning for GTB\'s Business Deposit portfolios.
  • Oversee internal operational improvements in areas of responsibility to ensure management information needs are met.
  • Has expert knowledge of OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirements: Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), and Net Cumulative Cash Flow (NCCF)
  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) Management: reviews and maintains existing/new FTP methodologies
  • Data Architecture: supports and contributes recommendations for GTB\'s deposit data infrastructure
  • Interest Rate & Margin Management support: contributes to GTB\'s revenue through value-added portfolio analytics and insights
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. \\
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business or quantitative discipline (e.g. financial analysis, accounting and/or risk concepts, engineering, mathematics, statistics, etc.)
  • 10+ years\' experience in financial industry with familiarity with non-personal deposit products, transfer pricing, margin analysis, liquidity risk and performance management
  • Solid track record of seeing beyond the numbers to the effects on the business
  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple, complex data sources across the Bank
  • Experience with big data technology
  • Experience with Statutory, Regulatory and Management reporting
Work Arrangement:
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically and globally
