In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Decision Support, the Director, Data Development, Integration and Reporting (the Director) is accountable for data management systems, data governance and data service process and resources required to both manage, protect and leverage data as a key organizational asset. The Director oversees the collection of mandated aggregate and person-specific data for Island Health.

The Director has a key contributing role in developing the Analytics ecosystem for Island Health. The Director is a member of and actively participates on the Decision Support Leadership Team

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Health Information Management, Health Administration, Data Engineering/Data Science, Public Administration, Business, Statistics or Social Sciences. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience working in a service and analytical capacity in a health services environment.

A strong health information management background and experience working in data integration, data governance and data architecture is preferred.

Skills And Abilities

• Proven ability to work collaboratively at a strategic level and ability to coordinate efforts at all levels of the organization.
• Analytical skills to translate data into action, complemented by program planning and management experience.
• Strong communication skills and self-assured presence to effectively present data results and recommendations to audiences ranging from front line staff to physicians and Senior Executives.
• Ability to build relationships with and consensus among a variety of individuals (including external relationships with national and international program experts)
• Ability to influence and coordinate multiple internal stakeholders around a common goal and strategy.
• Demonstrated understanding of Island Health data systems and experience in quantitative data analysis (including the collection, analysis, trending, and reporting of demographic data, utilization statistics, and survey data) and presentation of data is required.
• Highly developed project management skills including experience with meeting planning and organizing various methods of consultation.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
