The Director, Corporate Communications, in the Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) Department is responsible for the development and execution of corporate communications and media relations programs. This role requires both the judgment to advise on transactions and reputation matters and the ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships across the organization and with external partners.


This position requires a skilled communications professional with an avid curiosity about businesses across the U.S. and Latin America, in addition to Canada. The successful candidate will elevate CPP Investments' profile across the Americas and strengthen our brand and reputation in these critical markets.

Accountabilities:



Develop and execute investment communications (including media relations) for CPP Investments in the Americas to help build CPP Investments' reputation as a leading global institutional investor and investor of choice. Provide strategic communications advice and counsel on investment transactions and issues to CPP Investments' executives and investment teams to support and execute our enterprise and department mandate. Oversee and develop communications materials and projects with a high degree of organization and attention to detail. Ensure precise and effective execution of materials development. Foster relationships with peers at external investment partners and portfolio companies in the Americas. Build and maintain relationships with key journalists that cover CPP Investments and our investment activities. Partner with colleagues across Public Affairs and Communications, including government affairs and stakeholder affairs, to manage and enhance the organization's brand and reputation in the Americas.


Qualifications



College or university degree in a related field. 7-10 years of relevant experience in communications and/or media relations in financial services or public affairs and communications consultancies. Knowledge of financial markets and public/private investments. Strong critical thinking, analytical capability, and the ability to communicate effectively. Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships. Strong project and time management skills to ensure the efficient and best-in-class delivery of communications strategies happening simultaneously. Strong writing, editing and proofing skills, and attention to detail. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook. Proficiency with AI software (Copilot and ChatGPT) an asset.
