Purpose

Leverage industry and financial / transactional experience to originate and execute on lending and other credit related opportunities. To ensure that specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives and that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Champion a client centric culture focused on deepening client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint and generate revenue. Relationship management and cross collaboration includes:
  • Coordinating with the various product groups and industry team within GBM
  • Identify, develop, and grow corporate banking relationships with clients
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of clients, providing unique financing/hedging solutions, and delivering Scotiabank\'s broader product platform
  • Focus on leveraging the bank\'s balance sheet to identify and grow multi-product relationships
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of Scotiabank\'s global platform to facilitate cross-product/cross-regional relationship management
  • Ensure appropriate account coverage and tracking of relationship progress, especially for focus accounts
  • Provide detailed client planning and development, including meeting preparation and follow-up
  • Oversee the negotiation of lending and other documentation across the relationship (i.e. Credit Agreements, Reimbursement Agreements, ISDA, etc)
  • Stay keenly aware of the changing macro environment and regulatory landscape, and their impact on the industry and potential future opportunities
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Develops more junior bankers on their team and across CIB and GBM through active engagement on developing their skills (technical, coverage, and other leadership skills) providing real-time positive and constructive feedback to support their development
  • Actively partner with group leaders and broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams
  • Assist in resource management and prioritization of work to effectively and efficiently manage team\'s time and resources
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology
  • Knowledge of all lending and non-lending products and credit processes to facilitate prompt execution of transactions
  • In-depth understanding of credit structuring for investment grade and leveraged lending
  • Knowledge of other GBM product areas including Investment Banking, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Risk Solutions Group, Foreign Exchange and Global Business Payments
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and sector/product knowledge
  • Strong structuring, credit, and financial analysis skills
  • Credit and/or banking experience
  • Strong marketing, negotiation, organizational, communication and credit evaluation skills
