We are looking for a Director, Construction and Major Projects for our facility in Cambridge, ON.

JOB PURPOSE

Management of construction and major projects at nuclear power plants, reporting to the Executive Vice-President for the Projects & Field Services business. Development of construction/project centric teams - securing and developing resources, new business plus the development and implementation of applicable programs, processes, and procedures. Overall P&L responsibility and accountability for assigned projects.

JOB STRUCTURE AND COMMUNICATIONS

  • This position reports to the EVP Projects & Field Services and is an integral member of the leadership team for that business.
  • Within the matrix organization - reporting to this position would include, but not be limited to:
  • Construction Managers
  • Construction Project Manager(s)
  • Project based teams (scheduling, cost, reporting, safety, quality, project engineers, etc.).
  • Working with the BWXT assigned customer project manager, this position requires continuous and effective communications with mid-level customer management, focused on the delivery of current and future projects.
  • Within the Projects & Field Services business - internal communications consist of active participation in business line leadership meetings; individual communication to departments throughout the business.
  • Expected to develop new construction/project business opportunities, working with the EVP Projects & Field Services, and developing associated WIN strategies and execution plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expand and develop construction capabilities aligned with opportunities at Bruce Power, Pickering, Darlington, NB Power, and potentially Cernavoda, Romania.
  • Develop plan and strategy, leveraging existing and potential projects to re-establish multi-discipline construction delivery.
  • Assess and modify/develop standards, processes and procedures required to effectively execute and deliver construction projects for our nuclear operating plant customers; explore new construction opportunities.
  • Assess existing Project team within the Project & Field Services group and develop recommendations for change, growth, etc. to expand in order to become an effective construction/major project delivery team.
  • P&L responsibility for all assigned construction and major projects: from booking, through execution, invoicing, payment receipt to close out.
Business Development
  • Identify and develop strategies.
  • Secure major project construction/modification opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10 years of related construction project experience, preferably within the Canadian nuclear industry.
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing complex construction projects within a union trades environment.
  • Advanced writing and verbal communication skills; capability to communicate at mid to senior level management.
  • Computer skills in MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Primavera P6 scheduling.

The pay range for this position in Ontario is expected to be between $165,000 and $217,000 per year. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
