The Clinical Informatics team works collaboratively with patients, physicians, nursing, health disciplines and the department of health technology to support an information based approach to healthcare delivery. Clinical Informatics drives innovation that defines present day and future approaches to information and knowledge management in clinical care and biomedical research. The Clinical Informatics team supports systems design, implementation and adoption to enhance clinical decision support, documentation and provider order entry systems. Sinai Health is seeking a strategic leader with significant experience in clinical system implementations, preferably within a complex health care setting to assume the role of Director, Clinical Informatics. This leader will share our vision for an integrated system of connected care and play a critical role in supporting Sinai Health\xe2\x80\x99s vision, people and business plans, and core values and competencies. Position Summary The Director, together with the Chief, Quality, Patient Experience and Clinical Informatics will be responsible for contributing to the overall strategic vision and leadership for Clinical Informatics services across Sinai Health. The Director collaborates with the executives and senior leadership teams, especially in relation to Clinical Operations and Professional Practice, to provide strategic direction for clinicians in the use of information technology by leading the assessment of requirements, the implementation of strategies and evaluation within and across Sinai Health. The incumbent will provide seasoned leadership for the planning, management, implementation, integration, coordination and evaluation of Clinical Informatics in support of Sinai Health\xe2\x80\x99s Mission, Vision and Values ensuring excellence, effective leadership, innovation and financial stability. The Director supports a high performance team and has oversight of the Information Management and Clinical Informatics Teams cross-site. The Director will lead by example with a focus on quality and clinical excellence, the Director will participate in identifying and implementing person-centered care initiatives that inspire best practices and leading-edge outcomes. The Director, participates in the strategy development process to drive change initiatives and optimization of Clinical Informatics services. The Director serves as a client-centred liaison between clinicians, ancillary departments, and Information Services (IS) to align clinical and IT standards on the use of clinical information systems with department workflow, processes, and policies. The Director works very closely with senior leadership to leverage the various system capabilities and chart a course for enabling technology for physicians, nursing and health disciplines to improve efficiencies, reduce non-value added work, and ultimately to improve patient care. The Director engages with Clinical Operations, Professional Practice leadership teams and Physicians to act as a change agent and translator to bridge the gap between health disciplines\xe2\x80\x99 practices, clinical operational processes and technology. The Director will provide leadership for Clinical Informatics to govern structures and have oversight of processes to support, execute and align resources to prioritize intake and implementation of clinical requests for changes in the electronic patient record (EPR) and other downstream applications. The Director plays a key role is fostering collaborative interprofessional solutions to ensure efficiencies and high quality person-centered care. The Director is also accountable for ensuring the development of operating and performance plans that support strategy achievement for Clinical Informatics services that align with Sinai Health Strategic Plan and Operating Plans. Together with clinical leadership and the broader interprofessional team, the Director serves as liaison with vendors and collaborating institutions.

Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a Health Discipline from an accredited educational institution (Master of Clinical Informatics Preferred).
  • Current registration in good standing with a regulatory college preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems-Canada (CPHIMS-CA) or currently registered / willingness to actively pursue.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of clinical practice in a health discipline related field or active leadership in Clinical Informatics preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an advanced professional practice/leadership role, complemented by proven experience with clinical workflow processes.
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of multidisciplinary clinicians and how technology and informatics can enable or support efficiencies, and providing guidance to leadership on practice/process changes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EPR design, implementation and evaluation with preference for candidates with knowledge of either Cerner or Meditech.
  • Strong ability to operationalize across both acute and rehab/ccc (including ambulatory care) environments in a complex, multi-facility operational environment.
  • Proven ability to manage teams with diverse skill sets supporting varied clinical information systems (e.g. EMRs, etc.) and other downstream applications and provincial (e.g. eHealth Ontario) assets (e.g. MyChart Patient Portal, RM&R Referral and Matching systems, etc.).
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience leveraging technology to drive clinical informatics and ultimately better patient outcomes.
  • Program management experience, including program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, with progressive responsibility preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; professional, diplomatic and confident with a proven ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of effective strategies to maximize inter-professional collaboration.
  • Models collaborative, cross-portfolio engagement to build consensus and create solutions to complex issues. Established professional and academic network within the broader health care community locally, provincially and nationally.
  • Knowledge of the trends in health care and health profession practice; experience with professional regulatory body standards and regulations.
  • Sound knowledge and application of financial and operational management with the ability to effectively manage diverse human, financial and physical resources.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in multiple applications
  • Significant experience in risk management and quality improvement; success leading, monitoring and evaluating process/systems to identify and achieve efficiencies.
  • Project management experience or training is preferred.
  • Analytical, statistical, data management, and report writing experience required; proven experience in data interpretation and analysis as a means to support strategic decision making.
  • Excellent problem recognition, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking and dynamic environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the proven ability to manage competing demands and prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
