Job Title Director, Canadian Banking Credit and Control Effectiveness (18 month contract)



What\'s the opportunity?

Support the overall objectives of P&CB and act as a strategic partner and Subject Matter Expert supporting initiatives and projects by providing guidance and direction on credit control design and testing. You will identify opportunities to expand the scope of credit reviews to appropriately capture both sales underwriting and adjudication in key business markets and related adjudication functions. You will work with internal and external partners to identify and implement new control evaluations and data base controls.

What will you do?

  • Ensure that credit risk appetite is reinforced while supporting business growth by embedding the right risk tone and culture
  • Continue to expand the scope of our automated testing to appropriately increase coverage of Key Controls and High Risk Issues, while reducing monitoring costs
  • Pro-actively work with Risk Leads to identify opportunities for credit control improvements and automated credit control testing to address persistent issues
  • Act as a design control expert working with the Lines of Business to enable timely and sustainable resolution of OSFI and IAS credit risk control issues and new credit risk related initiatives
  • Ensure a comprehensive program for credit risk key controls design is in place and complemented by testing and controls monitoring so credit risk control effectiveness can be provided for each Lines of Business (LOB)
  • Review control testing defects, develop control design enhancements, monitor OSFI and Internal Audit issues, ensuring that credit risk issues found in one LoB are addressed across of applicable LoBs
  • Support LoBs as SME for new credit control design and evaluation
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 5+ years of Deep RBC Commercial and Retail credit experience, at a management capacity
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature and ability to challenge current practices
  • A commitment to streamlined and effective processes for maximum business efficiency while assuring appropriate governance
  • Proven change leadership and change management experience, and solid experience with retail lending and commercial risk assessment
  • Knowledge of commercial mortgage lending, credit and an understanding of balancing sales with credit risk
  • Strategic mindset with significant knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization
  • Solid conflict management, negotiation, influencing, planning and organization skills
  • Ability to build partnerships with stakeholders and adapt to changes
  • Post-secondary education
  • Ability to commit to completing an 18 month contract in this role
Nice-to-have
  • Solid working knowledge of banking operations and the financial services regulatory landscape, ideally with several years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Internal Audit.
