What is the Opportunity?
As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Director, BFS Portfolio Risk Oversight, GRM will manage a team responsible for providing valuable insights to senior leadership in risk and the business on the performance of the BFS portfolio and help promote a \xe2\x80\x9cBest of Class\xe2\x80\x9d risk oversight environment.

What will you do?

  • Lead a team of analysts responsible for leveraging both internal and external data to prepare concise and insightful analysis to senior leadership (in both risk and the business) on top/emerging risks and key trends within the BFS portfolio.
  • Help lead the ideation, preparation and presentation of materials for quarterly and mid-quarter Portfolio Management Committee meetings and monthly meetings with Group Executive level audiences.
  • Provide thought leadership to enhance portfolio analytics and reporting through the use of leading edge analytics and statistical tools.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in credit risk across a number of industries (Commercial Real Estate, Agriculture, Tech, Auto Finance, Healthcare etc.) and support various Industry Operating Committees.
  • Oversee Stage 3 credit loss forecasting, planning and analytics to forecast potential credit losses in the portfolio under various conditions of stress.
  • Highlight early warning signals of portfolio deterioration by leveraging existing models or building new tools to highlight areas of concern and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Support the business across strategic initiatives by balancing risk vs. reward and spotting vulnerabilities and opportunities in the portfolio using a data driven approach.
What do you need to succeed?
  • The ability to effectively translate analytically complex ideas into clear and concise insights and presentations.
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration competencies (proven ability to lead cross-functional analytics and projects) and ability to influence and partner across the enterprise.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to develop targeted data-driven insights in support of business objectives
  • Able to think strategically and leverage information from multiple sources along with a strong interest in data and a desire to hunt for solutions and find creative ways to solve problems
  • Ability to execute decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment and communicate results to senior executives in GRM, BFS and across the enterprise.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of Canadian commercial credit sectors, products, policies and procedures.
  • Previous credit portfolio management experience (from a risk perspective).
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communications skills to explain complex concepts, influence and build consensus.
  • Interest in presenting and communicating deliverables to senior level stakeholders within the organization.
  • Networking: Ability to build and utilize internal networks to assist in project completion with emphasis on effective collaboration and consideration of diverse perspectives.
