Director, Auto Finance Analytics

Toronto, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

RBC's Auto Finance business is at the forefront of a transformative journey to revolutionize how we leverage data and analytics to drive growth, manage risk, and enhance profitability. As a unique hybrid within RBC--spanning both Retail and Commercial Banking--Auto Finance operates through an indirect model, financing consumer vehicle loans via a vast network of Canadian dealerships while also supporting dealer group financing needs.

We are seeking a Director, Automotive Retail Analytics to lead our analytics strategy, pioneer advanced techniques, and deliver actionable insights that will propel Auto Finance to market leadership. This role combines strategic leadership, hands-on analytics, and team development to fuel our ambitious goals: market share growth, credit loss optimization, profitability, and operational excellence.

What Will You Do?

Drive Impact Through Analytics & Innovation

Own and execute high-impact analytics projects and data products to deepen business understanding and achieve transformational objectives. Balance strategic leadership with hands-on analytics, leveraging tools like SAS, Tableau, Python, and RBC platforms (EDW, Data Lake, Cloud). Pioneer advanced analytics techniques to solve complex business challenges.
Inspire and Develop Talent

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence through coaching, capacity planning, and talent management. Serve as the Analytics Centre of Excellence for Auto Finance, elevating data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Influence and Collaborate

Chair critical Auto Finance forums to deliver insights and shape strategic decisions. Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Risk, Marketing, Operations) and RBC's data community to drive alignment and innovation.
Ensure Operational Excellence

Oversee and optimize ongoing reporting processes, emphasizing automation, efficiency, and insight generation. Maintain robust documentation and governance to ensure well-managed analytics practices.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-Have

:

Proven experience leading high-performing Data & Analytics teams in a complex, cross-functional environment. Demonstrated expertise in analytics, reporting, and data strategy, with hands-on proficiency in tools like SAS, Tableau, Python, and RBC ecosystems (EDW, Data Lake, Cloud). Strategic mindset with the ability to build compelling business cases and execute large-scale transformations. Exceptional stakeholder influence and communication skills to drive outcomes. Deep understanding of retail lending, preferably with experience in the Auto Finance industry.

Nice-to-Have

:

Strong relationships within RBC's data community (business and technology) and a track record of managing complex projects. Experience balancing strategic leadership with hands-on technical contributions.
