Our Client
Our Client is an amazing non-profit organization that provides assistance to women in need, strives to empower them in their day-to-day lives and help them overcome the challenges they face. They are searching for a Director of Finance to join the team. This position requires working closely with the Executive Director. Salary Range - $97,850 - $113,300
Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to not-for-profit accounting, financial management, and the creation, implementation, and/or supervision of internal systems that are uniform among charities
  • Draft the annual operational budget for the Board of Directors, and work closely with the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee in maintaining correct data
  • Coordinate with the Fund Development Team and Program managers to create and develop new budgets
  • Create Board and Staff Training, and possible building opportunities in line with the organization's finances
  • Assist in the negotiation of agreements for equipment leasing, building leases, capital improvement projects, and space renovations by providing financial and administrative leadership
  • Processing and facilitating the updating of papers with banking and other institutions to change check signers and authorizations
  • Assisting human resources staff with contract negotiations, group benefits administration
  • Overseeing payroll processes and systems, confirming the accuracy of data before payroll submission
  • Ad-hoc duties if required
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of accounting experience with a CPA designation, preferably in a leadership role
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a non-profit charitable organization is required
  • Proven experience handling government contracts, as well as being fluent in CRA guidelines specific to charitable organizations and particularly grants, donations, and fundraising requirements, is necessary
  • Excellent technical skills with previous experience using accounting systems
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Required to undergo a criminal record check as a standard procedure
  • First Aid Certificate is required
  • Has a professional yet compassionate demeanor and has the ability to work in a busy environment
  • Displays a strong feminist analysis within an anti-oppression framework
