Your Opportunity:

The Director of Linen & Environmental Services (LES) is responsible and accountable for participating in the development of the provincial LES operational plan and priorities and leading the Zone LES management team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of Linen & Environmental Service (including portering) in support of achieving the strategic & operational plan and priorities of the LES provincial program. Reporting to the Executive Director of Nutrition, Food, Linen & Environmental Services, this position plays a key leadership role within the program and will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership and oversee LES in the Zone. Will accept applicants residing outside of Edmonton zone / preference for applicant within zone.

Description:

This position leads the zone LES management team in the development of zone and provincial departmental & operational objectives regarding the implementation, operation, management and monitoring of the delivery of safe, appropriate linen, environmental services, portering and quality measurement programs in the most effective manner. This position promotes, fosters and models a team-based approach in the provision of LES. This position works collaboratively with zone/site leaders & other site key stakeholders in a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative relationship; one that is committed to the provision of safe, quality, patient- focused health services in a sustainable manner. They are expected to plan, organize, direct and evaluate all aspects of service provision and ensure alignment with and support of all relevant & required provincial standards & processes. Direct contact with individual site and provincial management teams is a key component of the role.

Required Qualifications:

Post secondary degree or diploma in business administration, health care profession, healthcare management or related field. Equivalent skills and experience will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:

6-8 years progressive leadership experience in health services delivery, including practical experience in strategy and policy development, change leadership, and project management. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment in an organization of significant size and complexity. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to use strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees, and other partners. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Preferred Qualifications:

A graduate degree in business, Health Services Administration or healthcare field is an asset. Leadership experience in Linen, Environmental Services, and Portering. General knowledge of IPC best practices and protocols in regard to all surface cleaning and outbreak management. Should also have a good knowledge of relevant Occupational Health and Safety issues. Knowledge of AHS policies, practices and processes as asset. Experience with contract management & monitoring.
