The Director, Agile Delivery Excellence role will play a critical role in the transformation of delivery work for all Corporate Application Solutions (CAS). You will drive adoption and integrate Agile practices between technology and business teams that best align with Sun Life's Digital Enterprise (DE) Strategy. You will provide Chapter leadership for the Agile Coaches, Scrum Master and Project Managers supporting Agile, Lean and Waterfall delivery frameworks. The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to lead, develop and support teams that deliver large and complex initiatives.

This individual will build effective relationships with the CAS Leadership team, leaders across Digital Business Technology Solutions (DBTS) and Corporate business partners. The successful candidate will work with Sun Life practice leaders to globally align and enhance our PM/Agile processes and performance metrics.

This role will also be an active member of the Corporate Digital Enterprise Transformation team and support the Operating/Platform model roll out and DE Culture Shift.

What will you need to succeed?

Domain Expertise

Global technology project, program and Agile delivery transformation experience for digital enterprise enablement

Experience in defining and managing Agile Coach, Scrum Master, and Project Manager practices

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other stakeholders to advance the objectives of the Chapter around skill development and continuous improvement and governance.

Talent Management

Leader for ~15 direct reports (Agile Coaches, Scrum Master, Project Managers)

Active listener with ability to create an atmosphere of trust and a comfortable/efficient work environment

Coaching mindset to empower people to enable their success

Fosters a culture of continuous and timely feedback that supports career development and recognition

A progressive thought leader who can build high performing engaged teams

Identifying and acquiring talent needs and resource planning and talent allocation

Relationship Builder

Create/foster relationships across CAS, DBTS and Business

Strong communicator with the ability to document and present to various audiences, including executive level communications describing status, financial state, direction, approach, and recommendations to achieve desired outcomes

Proficient at influencing and negotiating to ensure appropriate solutions

Specialized Knowledge / Skills:

Experience with Agile Delivery methodologies (Scrum / Kanban);

Requires strong interpersonal, communication, managerial, motivational, and planning skills

Significant experience in presenting to and leading/managing

Understands what decisions can be made and when to escalate to leadership

Ability to identify delivery risks and potential solutions or approach to risk mitigation

Identifies best practices and crafts solutions to broader issues; aims to continually improve delivery practices

Uses a logical approach to address problems/opportunities but thinks several steps ahead in deciding on best course of action, anticipating likely outcomes.

Education and Experience:

Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) is ideal

PMP certification or evidence of relevant applicable education and experience

5+ years of People Leadership experience

5+ years of experience in Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban)

10+ years of Program Management experience, leading large complex IT initiatives

Preference to those with an undergraduate degree/diploma

Significant experience in presenting

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
