Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2000 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centers across the province. Nature and Scope
The Director, Advancement is responsible for the overall engagement with stakeholders to enhance SIIT\'s presence in the province as a post-secondary Institute of choice. This position will coordinate the institute\'s events and strategic communications. Additionally, this position will work closely with colleagues to develop and carry out a comprehensive Institute communications strategy, while ensuring alignment of a strong, and consistent, brand that reflects the Institute\'s strategic plan. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT\'s vision, mission, and mandate.

General Accountability
The Director, Advancement will report directly into the Associate VP President \xe2\x80\x93 Operations & Advancement. The incumbent is responsible for writing, planning, launching and implementing projects as they relate to strategic relations. Additionally, this position will work closely with SIIT employees, various community groups and individuals, to promote a positive Institute image - and build mutually beneficial partnerships across the province; this includes activities related to internal and external communications. The Director, Advancement is responsible for supporting achievement toward the objectives outlined in SIIT\'s strategic plan, the comprehensive communications plan, and the annual performance objectives. Accountabilities will be diverse and multi-faceted as this role requires coordination of activities within the Academics department, across the Institute and with stakeholders - to provide support to a variety of projects. This position will include the following areas of accountabilities:

  • Participate in and support the development of a communications plan for the Institute as required
  • Design a framework and schedule for website content and communications
  • Develop internal and external media-based communication plans
  • Provide leadership to event coordination regarding sponsorships and scholarships celebrations
  • Monitor the Institute\'s progress in meeting objectives, project plans, and priorities as set out in SIIT\'s Strategic Plan
  • Provide support to the Associate VP-Operations & Advancement and executive management team by undertaking research and critical analysis as required
  • Work with internal staff, designers writers, editors and other creative staff and/or outside contractors to produce communication collateral, research, reporting, and event support
  • Develop, manages and executes an annual strategic communications plan for SIIT
  • Develop, manages and produces materials to create a cohesive image and message for print and all offline communication vehicles
  • Develop project proposals, charters, progress reports, requests for proposal responses, grant applications and other documents and presentations
  • Collaborates to ensure relevant and necessary communication and corporate community activities are supportive and meet the overall institutional direction
  • Establish and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with communities that include First Nation, Government, private and private sector in business, and general public
  • Take the lead role in working with other departments, specialists and staff to promote on-going institute stakeholder relations projects
  • Assist with developing internal and external media-based communication plans and create strategies to promote and advertise Institute events (non-student)
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Ensures resources are allocated in accordance with the financial planning and operating budget.
Required Qualifications and Experience: A degree in business, communication or related field, combined with a minimum of 6 years of related professional experience. A combination of education may be considered. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required, coupled with having in-depth knowledge of post-secondary education systems. Knowledge of and experience working with First Nations culture and organizations is required. Valid driver\'s license and reliable vehicle (some travel in Saskatchewan required). Short listed applicants will be asked to submit a writing sample. As an employee in the Advancement department, this position is subject to accept or handle monies on behalf of SIIT. Therefore, a cleared criminal record check (CRC) is required.

As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT\'s Alcohol and Substance policy.
