Purpose

This position is responsible for leading and oversight of the Accounts Payable activities for the organization while partnering with applicable teams within the Source to Pay process for successful execution of the end-to-end process. The Director will be responsible for delivering services that align to the Service Level Agreements and establishing performance standards and metrics within the Accounts Payable team to do so. This position will monitor accounts payable activities and proactively take action to resolve immediate issues and identify and remediate root cause problems for continuous improvement opportunities. The role partners with various internal teams to support Accounts Payable tasks/activities and for successful process execution and improvement and works with external vendors for problem resolution.

Accountabilities

Leadership

  • People Development responsibilities include leading culture, role modeling change leadership, success planning, and incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Act as a change leader; role model new change; demonstrate new ways of working
  • Incorporate and emphasize diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of role
  • Lead team to achieve departmental goals by providing technical guidance and direction, as well as hands-on resource
  • Develop and counsel direct report on issues of company policy, handling of union relations, establishment of best practices and any other areas pertaining to the department goals and strategy
  • Support and manage the department's staffing, compliance requirements, resources, and mentoring to maintain a best-in-class Transaction Services Dept
  • People Development: responsible for success planning and talent development. Implement action plans as needed.
  • Establish clear communication of departmental expectations, goals and procedures and ensure that their supporting direct reports meet both divisional and company objectives.
  • Performs work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures
Accounts Payable Oversight
  • Oversee accounts payable team and activities across the organization
  • Address and serve as escalation point for vendor inquiries and resolve accounts payable outstanding issues and problems
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls related to Accounts Payable activities are in place and executed as designed.
  • Identify, develop, and execute continuous improvement opportunities and identify potential gaps in collaboration with applicable teams within the Source to Pay Process
Service Level Agreements
  • Partner with applicable teams within the Source to Pay Process to develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that establishes joint accountability and addresses key activities essential to the successful execution of the end-to-end process
  • Identify, monitor, and manage appropriate metrics to ensure timely, quality performance of the Accounts Payable team across the organization
  • Provide feedback and coach team members on performance and assist them in their development planning and career progression in order to develop internal talent
  • Build and maintain great communication with vendors and internal stakeholders
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent - Business-related degree preferred
  • 8-10 years' experience in Accounts Payable and/or Accounting
  • Extensive experience leading a team of professionals across several functions or businesses
  • Experience building strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the Source to Pay process and end-to-end process
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are required
