This is a Hybrid role with the expectation to be in the office up to 3 days a week.

Mission




The Director of Accounting and Reporting plays a key leadership role in supporting the finance teams responsible for accounting across the company's managed portfolio, Support Office activities, and treasury functions. This role provides direction for accounting operations and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate accounting policies. The Director will also drive efficiency across departments and ensure optimal use of ERP and financial systems.


A major upcoming initiative will be the company-wide transition from Workday to Yardi for financial management. The Director will be a core leader in this transformational change management project, helping to design, implement, and operationalize Yardi across the finance function. Experience leading similar ERP transitions is critical for success in this role.

Key Outcomes



Provides timely, accurate accounting support for strategic initiatives (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, development, and construction activities). Delivers effective support for day-to-day operations for finance departments. Leads process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and value of accounting processes, with a focus on ERP and financial reporting systems, including the successful implementation of Yardi.

Key Responsibilities



Lead accounting and reporting components for strategic and operational projects, including onboarding new mandates. Act as a key finance lead in the implementation of Yardi, overseeing the accounting system transition from Workday and ensuring configuration meets business needs. Lead, train, develop, and staff project teams to support successful execution and continuity. Support the day-to-day operations of assigned finance departments, adapting structures and processes to meet long-term strategic needs. Provide technical accounting guidance to team members and business partners in alignment with standards and best practices. Provide support for the general ledger and architecture of Yardi, ensuring consistency, integrity, and alignment with organizational needs. Proactively communicate and collaborate with functional leads across Finance on matters of shared interest across all projects. Manage key internal relationships, including Operations, Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A), and other Finance partners. Lead and support accounting integration and process transitions related to acquisitions, divestitures, or other business changes. Collaborate with Managers to identify and implement process improvement opportunities across departments. Perform other duties as required to support departmental and organizational goals.

Required Education, Credentials, and Experience



CPA designation and an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting (individual contributor or leadership). Proven financial, technical, and business acumen, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial operations. Demonstrated leadership in managing multiple departments or cross-functional projects, including indirect reporting relationships. Significant experience leading ERP transitions, including hands-on involvement in Yardi implementations or similar large-scale financial systems migrations. Working knowledge of the Yardi software is an asset. Experience in process improvement methodologies and implementing change in financial operations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across all levels of the organization. Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
