Position Summary



We are seeking an experienced Directional Driller to join our growing field team. The ideal candidate will operate drilling equipment to install underground conduits, cables, and pipelines while maintaining alignment and minimizing disruption to surrounding infrastructure. Projects involve both urban and rural work environments with varying ground conditions and utility types.

Key

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment (e.g., Vermeer, Ditch Witch) to complete horizontal bores for telecom and utility projects Read and interpret utility locates, site drawings, and bore plans to ensure safe and precise drilling Coordinate with locator to track bore head path and maintain proper alignment Conduct pre- and post-bore inspections, clean-ups, and equipment checks Install conduits, ducts, or fiber using guided drilling methods Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with site supervisors to resolve challenges Adhere to all safety regulations, job site protocols, and environmental standards Document completed work and assist with daily project reporting

Qualifications



Minimum 3 years of experience operating directional drilling equipment Strong understanding of underground utility installations and safe digging practices Familiarity with utility locates, bore tracking systems, and drill mud mixing Valid AZ driver's license (minimum 3 years experience) Ability to operate excavation equipment is a strong advantage Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)



Experience in telecommunications, gas, or hydro utility projects Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, or First Aid Certification Hydro-vac or locating experience Knowledge of local and provincial construction regulations
