The Digital Communications Specialist (Climate Action) supports and executes Toronto Hydro's digital communications, digital projects and marketing strategy, following web accessibility best practices and user experience design for the Climate Action portfolio. This role requires a proactive individual who demonstrates attention to detail and stays current on accessibility standards, emerging technologies and trends (such as AI's impact on digital communications and UX).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as the Communications Lead on digital improvement projects that enhance the customer experience and respond to evolving customer needs
Provides advice and guidance on digital accessibility best practices, user experience and content design for the development of new website content and customer-facing digital tools and applications
Develops and executes digital content including the Toronto Hydro website, microsites, e-newsletters and direct mail in alignment with the Media & Public Relations Framework and objectives, Toronto Hydro brand and style guide, and legislative requirements (e.g., AODA, CASL) to provide excellent and inclusive customer service
Plans, develops and delivers communications campaigns for various marketing activities, external communications, digital improvement projects
Provides advice to business units on digital communication and marketing strategy ensuring alignment with corporate standards and compliance with legislative requirements
Collaborates with and oversees third-party agencies to ensure the successful delivery of initiatives that align with Toronto Hydro's digital communications strategy
Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities, and makes strategic recommendations to enhance customer engagement and customer experience on various initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related field
Five (5) or more years of digital communications experience, including creating content for newsletters, websites and email communications
Proven ability to develop and execute communications plans
Extensive experience working with content management systems and a solid understanding of knowledge management principles
Strong understanding of digital accessibility standards and best practices
Demonstrated experience in the climate action and/or energy conservation space
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to analyze data and provide meaningful insights
Exceptional writing skills, particularly when communicating complex topics
Knowledge of user experience (UX) and customer experience (CX) principles, with the ability to apply them to digital content and engagement strategies
Knowledge of front-end technologies, including HTML and CSS
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
Strong stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to work independently and take initiative to drive projects and new ideas forward
Adaptable and resourceful, with a positive, solutions-focused mindset
Commitment to continuous learning, including accessibility best practices and emerging trends such as AI in digital communications

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
