The De Beers Group has an opportunity within the Ore Processing Department at the Gahcho Kue Mine located in the Northwest Territories for a Diamond De-falsifier/Sorter. Reporting to the Metallurgist, and working a two week in, two week out rotation, the incumbent will required to carry out high-level plant operator duties as well as examine, identify, extract and classify diamonds generated from plant concentrate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Sorting and de-falsing diamond product on a daily batch basis;
  • Accounting and recording diamond data with a high degree of integrity and accuracy;
  • Conducting analyses on diamond trends, and working with the Process team to identify potential trends and issues in the process stream;
  • Controlling and coordinating sort house activities, ensuring a high level of security and process integrity;
  • Conducting audits of machines and systems to provide assurance of process efficiency
  • Ensuring high level of product security at all times;
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness within the work area;
  • Protecting the confidentiality of all data and communications relating to sensitive information; and
  • Operating with a strong understanding of good Safety, Health, and Environmental practices.
This is a site-based position working a (2) two weeks on, (2) weeks off rotation.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Computer competency, including but not limited to MS Office suite;
  • Ability to work in a strictly controlled security environment;
  • Ability to routinely maintain concentration for extended periods;
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • High degree of honesty and integrity;
  • Good vision and ability to differentiate colour; and
  • Previous diamond sorting and/or remote mine site experience is an asset.
Preference given to members of the Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation; Deninu Kue, , North Slave Metis Alliance, Northwest Territory Metis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation and residents of the NWT
