YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Development Manager reporting to the firm's Senior Planner, your day-to-day duties will include:

Project Management (60%)

  • Lead comprehensive neighborhood planning projects and innovative development concepts.
  • Liaise with City staff by acting as the main point of contact for updates and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Surveyors, and Biologists to achieve project goals and milestones.
  • Consult applicable bylaws and policies to ensure compliant planning, proposals, and applications.
  • Leverage reports, analyses, and studies to inform community planning, policy, and land use.
  • Facilitate innovative public consultation processes, such as open houses and feedback surveys.
Client Management & Relationship Building (25%)
  • Deliver innovative and integrated consulting services to CityState's private and public clients.
  • Foster strong client and employee relationships by leading with accountability and trust.
  • Promote effective communication with clients by addressing inquiries with solutions and urgency.
  • Provide design, survey, and report recommendations that best serve our client's financial interests.
  • Present data and materials in a succinct manner that caters to our client's business needs.
  • Review and strategize responses to various municipalities, while building strong City connections.
Leadership (15%)
  • Supervise and guide reporting and non-reporting CityState employees as the Project Lead.
  • Lead frequent check-ins and follow-ups with all contributors to drive projects forward.
  • Analyze and verify sub-consultant reports to improve work quality and exceed expectations.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning, a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in community planning in BC or a similar environment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing land development processes in the private planning sector.
  • Versed in diverse planning technologies, such as Project Management Software, Microsoft Suite, Acrobat Pro, SketchUp, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Comprehensive understanding of land development processes, applicable government regulations, and planning theory.
  • Proven ability to manage complex land development and community planning projects from the design to the construction phase, such as:
  • Conducting planning research
  • Managing development applications
  • Preparing reports for your team and key stakeholders
  • Leading public consultation programs
  • Using research and resources to solve client problems
  • Outstanding time management to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
  • Exceptional leadership ability to build, coordinate and inspire a multi-faceted team.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills to own relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Resourceful and research-driven contributor to deliver solutions to address client needs.
  • Willingness to work in person in our state-of-the-art Port Moody, BC Office.

  • An educational background in Business or Project Management.
