Job Description


We are looking for a self-motivated, career driven Development Accountant. This role is responsible for the payment and draw cycles, project budget system update and coding & adherence and project reporting to operating teams.

You’ll immediately be involved in supporting our operations, construction and development teams while controlling and shaping the budgets and supporting them in making key decisions. You’ll get a first hand view on how large scale residential projects get built.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Execute full-cycle month-end close process, including posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Oversee the processing of all payables, ensuring timely and accurate invoice approval and payment.
  • Maintain strict payment draw schedule ensuring all draws are prepared and reviewed according to the standard process.
  • Update and maintain all project budgets within Sage and ensure accurate data interface between Sage system and Procore construction management systems.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure coding accuracy and in accordance with budgets. Raise early notice of budget variances. Hold training sessions as necessary for new PMs.
  • Work with the Project Accounting Manager, Sales & Marketing department, and external law office to prepare each Project’s closing site record to support each unit closing statement.
  • Work with Project Accounting Manager to complete each Project’s budgeted cost, unit allocations, and cost recognition.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Other responsibilities as required

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation or working towards a CPA designation preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
