The Veterinary Medical Centre at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine is currently a state-of-the-art facility AVMA and AAHA accredited primary care and referral hospital serving western Canada. Specialty services and undergraduate and graduate training are offered in anesthesia, dentistry, dermatology, exotics and wildlife, internal medicine, medical imaging, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology and surgery. Primary Purpose: The successful applicant must have a proven interest in dermatology and a passion for veterinary medicine and a keen interest in coaching veterinary students for success in veterinary practice.
Nature of Work: This individual will deliver clinical veterinary care within the Dermatology and Primary and Preventative Care services.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities: In collaboration with an ACVD certified dermatologist, this veterinarian will ensure the development of a positive and vibrant team-based clinical service with excellence in client service. They will contribute to building of a healthy and diverse caseload for clinical learning. They will coach veterinary students as they develop competence and confidence in the key elements of the framework for competency based veterinary education. They will work to incorporate recent veterinary medical evidence-based advances and enhance the skills of undergraduates and technical staff. They must be a strong team player and be able to communicate and collaborate professionally with people of diverse backgrounds.
Education: Qualified candidates must have a DVM degree or its equivalent. An advanced degree and/or advanced training are desirable.
Licenses: Must be eligible for general licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.
Experience: A minimum of two years' experience in small animal general practice.
Skills: Must have a proven interest in dermatology and a passion for veterinary medicine and a keen interest in coaching veterinary students for success in veterinary practice.
