We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and a thorough understanding of dental and medical office procedures. As a Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your role is vital in ensuring a smooth and welcoming patient experience while supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk.
Schedule patient appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and coding.
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting co-pays and updating personal information.
Review and process medical documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality of health information in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Assist with insurance claims submission, follow-up on unpaid claims, and perform collections as needed.
Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating patient care plans, and managing appointment schedules.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Meditech or eClinicalWorks to document patient interactions accurately.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist within a dental or medical clinic environment.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, and health information management systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Meditech is highly desirable.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing).
Experience with insurance verification processes and billing procedures for Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance plans.
Ability to review medical documentation accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks.
