Job Overview


We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and ensuring smooth office operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

Duties



Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure Manage appointment scheduling using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR/EHR platforms Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures Collect payments and handle medical billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation review Facilitate patient intake by updating medical history and ensuring all necessary forms are completed Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or similar platforms Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document management Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and managing health information securely Support clinic operations through administrative tasks such as office management, medical office support, and medical records management Assist with care plans documentation and follow-up appointments scheduling Provide excellent customer service to enhance patient experience

Skills



Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and healthcare documentation standards Experience with dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Meditech is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and general computer skills for data entry and record keeping Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are advantageous Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; experience in medical billing or medical administrative support is a plus Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge of insurance verification processes, Medicare procedures, and health information management regulations Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, and office management tasks Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in providing superior patient care
