We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare administrative procedures. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while providing exceptional patient service.
Must be available evenings and weekends.
Must have previous experience as a dental receptionist.
Experience with dental software is required.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR/EHR platforms.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and coding.
Collect payments and process transactions efficiently using computer skills such as Microsoft Office and 10 key typing.
Manage multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette to handle patient inquiries and appointment requests.
Review documentation for accuracy, including medical records, care plans, and billing information.
Maintain organized filing of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with insurance verification, claims submission, and follow-up on unpaid claims or denials.
Support medical administrative tasks such as data entry, documentation review, and maintaining clinic supplies.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards for confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and patient flow.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role; dental office experience is highly preferred.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and health information management systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Meditech.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and office management software.
Knowledge of insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans; experience with dental insurance is a plus.
Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are advantageous.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
