to join our growing dental laboratory team. This hybrid role involves both traditional model preparation using gypsum materials and the operation of digital scanning equipment to create precise 3D models. The ideal candidate will have experience in model work and a keen interest in digital dentistry.
Key Responsibilities:Traditional Model Work:
Inspect and assess incoming dental impressions (alginate, silicone, polyether, etc.) for quality and suitability.
Pour impressions accurately to produce study models, working casts, and opposing models.
Pin, base, and trim models to required standards using plaster, stone, or die stone.
Articulate models using appropriate occlusal schemes and lab protocols.
Label and organize cases clearly and consistently to support lab workflow.
Digital Model Scanning & Workflow:
Scan traditional impressions and/or stone models using 3D dental scanners (e.g., 3Shape, Medit, iMetric).
Ensure high-quality digital files are created and saved with proper case identifiers.
Perform basic digital cleanup or trimming of scanned models using relevant CAD software.
Upload and manage digital files in the lab's case management or CAD/CAM system.
Collaborate with CAD technicians and department leads to ensure accurate and timely integration into digital workflows.
General Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment, including scanners, model trimmers, and mixers.
Adhere to lab protocols for safety, hygiene, and infection control.
Communicate effectively with other technicians and departments to support case flow.
Monitor stock levels of gypsum materials and scanning supplies and report shortages.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certificate or training in dental technology preferred.
1+ years of experience in a dental laboratory setting (model room or digital workflow).
Strong understanding of dental anatomy, impression materials, and model-making techniques.
Basic computer literacy; experience with CAD software or 3D scanners is an asset.
High level of precision, organization, and time management.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with 3D dental scanning software (e.g., 3Shape Dental System, Exocad, Medit Link).
Experience using pinning systems (e.g., Giroform, split-cast).
Understanding of occlusion and articulation principles.
Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving digital workflows.
Working Conditions:
Dental laboratory environment.
Regular exposure to dust, water, plaster/stone products, and computer screens.
Use of PPE (gloves, mask, goggles) is required.
Tasks involve standing for long periods and repetitive hand movements.
