Scope: The Manager oversees the management activities of the Fort Nelson First Nation\xe2\x80\x99s Indigenous Daycare Program, Aboriginal Infant Development Program, and Head Start Program, and all related reporting requirements. This individual manages and oversees the work plans and performance of employees and is responsible for the strategic goals of the program and its services. The Manager is considered a leader in quality child care services with subject matter expertise in early childhood development and education within a daycare setting, to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children. This individual is able to assist employees in their daily activities, such as assisting them with the development of programs and activities for children. The Manager coordinates recruitment efforts for the day care, implements employee performance measures and reviews, and develops and monitors the daycare budgets and spending, and completes all related reporting requirements. Additional aspects of the work include building respectful relationships with children and parents and staff and stakeholders, and ensuring the facility is well maintained. Candidate Profile: You are skilled in your interactions with parents and staff, and you have a good understanding about daycare operations and its related services and activities. You possess strong interpersonal and communication and engagement skills, and you have strong written and verbal communication skills. You are confident in your communications with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. You are skilled in managing people, projects, and programs. Your competencies include: Building Partnerships, Building Trust, Communication, Building Teams, Developing Others, Planning/Coordinating, Policy, Financial Acumen, Customer Focus, Proposals, and Reporting. You have a leadership disposition, interpersonal ability, and you are organized. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Mature individual of professional presentation with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a British Columbia License to Practice. May consider out of province certifications if the credentials can be transferred.
  • Five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a child care setting, with at least two (2) years in a daycare setting.
  • Experience supervising child care workers.
  • Experience must include project management, program management, and budget preparation and implementation.
  • Experience preparing financial proposals and budgets.
  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Strong morals and ethics, sound judgement and reasoning skills, along with a commitment to discretion and privacy.
  • Strong leader and team builder with excellent communication skills (written and oral); ability to listen to understand and ask questions for clarification and to implement resolution skills; able to produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple and diverse child care programs and operations, while adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Ability to conduct presentations.
  • Proficient computer skills and able to use MS Office Suite, Excel, internet, and email.
  • Physical fitness to perform ECE backfill tasks when necessary.
  • Compliance with BC Immunization program, TB screening and COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificates, or willingness to renew.
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Report.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (British Columbia, or ability to transfer license to BC)
  • Satisfactory driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
