Job Description

Summary of Duties:
Data and analysis are key drivers to understanding activity across this large teaching hospital. The Decision Support Analyst will help drive decision making through data extraction, advanced analytics and reporting of key metrics to hospital staff and senior leaders. The analyst will work with program consultants, operations directors and service areas across the hospital to better understand health service utilization and needs of our patients, as well as to support ongoing reporting of activity. The analyst will play a key role in bringing data and insights to those who need it most. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in using advanced analytics and data visualization to inform hospital planning.
Duties include:

  • Extracting data from clinical administrative databases to derive insights, identify trends and monitor performance.
  • Utilizing SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI and other analytic tools or software programs to extract, visualize and manipulate data.
  • Support Program Consultants by extracting, manipulating and interpreting data and producing reports, analyses, dashboards and/or presentations for internal and external audiences to support decision-making.
  • Work with Decision Support Consultants to assist in the application of advanced analytics techniques to predict and monitor hospital activity, including wait times, length of stay and other key metrics.
  • Assisting in design, implementation and monitoring of priority projects.
  • Assisting with development and deployment of data capture instruments for primary data collection.
  • Implementing quality assurance activities and manage data integrity and accuracy.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation and technical specifications for all reporting.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop Business Intelligence products, including Power BI reports.
  • Support in ad hoc report development, projects and other team needs as directed.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Baccalaureate degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong, demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including advanced statistics or data science skills
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office, excellent Excel skills, experience with Power BI
  • Experience with SQL, Python or other advanced statistical applications.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Able to organize, plan and prioritize work with time constraints and strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of Clinical Administrative Databases would be an asset (DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, NRS, CCRS, etc...)
