Job Description

Creating Futures Daycare is seeking a reliable, safety-minded, and child-focused Daycare Driver to join our team! This role is essential in helping children arrive safely to and from our programs while upholding Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations and our internal transportation policies. The ideal candidate is warm, attentive, and committed to providing a calm, positive experience for every child in their care.

About the Role



The Daycare Driver plays an integral role in our center's daily operations. You will be responsible for transporting children safely to and from our childcare centre, maintaining safety protocols, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment on the van each day.

This position reports directly to the Owner/Director

Key Responsibilities



Conduct daily bus safety checklists and inspections each morning. Keep maintenance records up to date and communicate any concerns promptly. Maintain supplies on the bus (first aid kits, emergency materials, cleaning items, etc.). Check fuel levels daily and refuel as needed. Complete a full walk-through of the bus after every drop-off to ensure no child is left behind.

Child Safety & Supervision



Confirm accurate child head counts at every pick-up and drop-off. Ensure all children are secured in age-appropriate child safety restraints before driving. Provide active supervision at all times while children are on the van. Follow safe loading and unloading procedures consistently. Know and follow all transportation policies, evacuation procedures, and accident protocols.

Cleaning & Sanitizing



Perform daily housekeeping duties such as sweeping/vacuuming floors and seats. Clean and sanitize high-touch areas regularly to maintain a healthy environment.

Qualifications



Class 4 Driver's License. Ability to complete employment assessments (road test, ride-along, etc.).

Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Search

CPR/First Aid Certification

Early Childhood Educator Certification level 1, 2 or 3

Experience & Competencies



A genuine passion for working with children. Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain positive relationships with children and families. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and strong judgement.

Physical Requirements



Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable walking, bending, standing, squatting, and crouching to support children. Ability to respond quickly in emergencies. Able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and organized.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.64-$25.64 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week

Work Location: In person
