Position Summary



The Daycare Director reports to the Board of Directors. We are looking to hire a qualified, enthusiastic individual to manage the day-to-day operations of Prairie Roots Early Learning Centre Inc., an established centre that has been open since the fall of 2024. This centre is located in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. The Director is responsible for the successful leadership and overall management of the organization, while following the Mission, Vision and Values of the centre.

The successful applicant will be responsible for enhancing the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development through planning, organizing and implementing educational programming that nurtures a positive learning environment inclusive to all individuals.

Objective:



? To ensure the provision of a quality child care service which fulfills the philosophy of the centre.

? To ensure that the centre operates in compliance with The Child Care Act, 2014 and The Child Care Regulations, 2015.

? To administer the policies of the Board by developing and implementing procedures which meet the goals and objectives of the centre.

? To provide key information to the Board to assist them in their decision and policy making function.

Duties & Responsibilities:



? Administration

o Maintain accurate recordkeeping (ex. children's files, staff files, billings and fee collections, receipts, attendance records, banking) as required for the operation of the organization.

o Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget.

o Complete monthly financial requirements such as billings, payables, receivables.

o Ensure the completion of accurate monthly financial statements for the review of the Board.

o Purchase services, supplies and equipment as needed according to the operating budget.

o Research and apply for additional sources of funding.

o Complete annual licensing requirements.

o Develop procedures to ensure implementation of licensing requirements and board policies.

o Maintain enrollment through advertisement and the delivery of a quality program.

? Human Resources

o Recruit qualified staff members.

o Arrange staff scheduling to ensure ratios are maintained.

o Provide new staff members and volunteers with an orientation to the organization.

o Conduct regular performance reviews.

o Implement appropriate disciplinary action as required.

o Encourage personal and professional growth of staff members through the provision of regularly scheduled staff meetings, in-service training, professional development opportunities and a resource centre.

o Accept, provide support and evaluate ECE practicum students.

o Manage human resources in compliance with applicable regulatory bodies (ex. Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, Worker's Compensation).

? Program/Child Development

o Ensure the overall safety and wellbeing of children enrolled at the centre.

o Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program through the review of program plans, and the active participation and observation of program activities.

o Ensure the implementation of an inclusive program and environment that meets the needs of all children.

o Oversee menu planning.

o Act as a positive role model.

? Family Support

o Provide families with an orientation to the centre when enrolling.

o Encourage parental involvement on the board of directors, in fundraising, children's program, and work bees.

o Ensure effective communication with families through the implementation of a variety of methods (ex. newsletters, parent bulletin boards, verbal communication).

o Assist families in connecting with agencies and resources as required.

o Address parent concerns in a timely manner.

? Professional and Community Involvement

o Encourage and support staff participation in professional and community organizations.

o Participate in relevant professional committees and organizations.

o Model professional behaviour for staff.

? Board Relations

o Attend all board meetings in an advisory capacity.

o Provide a written report on the status of the centre to the Board at each board meeting and to the membership annually.

o Provide background information on issues as required by the Board for policy development.

o Provide policy drafts for board approval.

o Assist the Board in the planning of committee, board, and annual general meetings.

o Ensure that the centre meets all legal requirements.

o Inform Board of maintenance, renovation and equipment requirements.

o Conduct an annual program evaluation to be provided to the Board.

o Inform the Board of government initiatives which affect the delivery of child care.

o Act as a liaison between the board and staff or parents to ensure all concerns or complaints are addressed.

Required Education/Certification:



? Minimum requirement of a two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent - ECE Level III

? First Aid Certification, CPR Level C

? Criminal Record Check

? Vulnerable Sector Check

? Food Safe Certification required upon start date

? Understanding of The Child Care Regulations, 2015 and The Child Care Act, 2014

Experience:



? A minimum of 3-5 years' experience working in an early learning or child care setting.

? Experience working in a management role is considered an asset.

? Experience working with non-profit Board of Directors is considered an asset.

? Strong communication skills, oral and written.

? Strong computer and software

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $15.35-$26.51 per hour
