Summary

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our dynamic team at Wax-it Histology Services Inc. This role will be pivotal in analyzing complex data sets and developing innovative solutions that enhance our histological services. Located in Canada, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality scientific research.

Responsibilities

Consolidate and migrate data from Excel sheets and paper records into a structured, centralized database Design and implement a scalable and secure database architecture (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, or cloud solutions) Develop data cleaning, validation, and standardization processes Integrate analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python-based dashboards Utilize AI platforms, including ChatGPT and forecasting models, to identify trends and derive insights from research, client, and operational data Work closely with the business development, marketing, and operations teams to define data needs and improve decision-making Create documentation and train internal teams on using the new systems

Requirements

A recent graduate

of a post-secondary academic program and under 30 years of age. (Canadian or International). Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field Proven experience in database development and management Strong proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data integration tools Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT or OpenAI APIs for automation and analysis is highly preferred Familiarity with statistical forecasting techniques, machine learning tools, and data visualization platforms Ability to work independently and translate business needs into technical solutions

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of biomedical or life sciences data handling Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
