The selected winter students will work closely with senior team members on one or more projects in the field of data center network automation. Such projects focus on several aspects of network automation such as i) defining new protocols to better exchange data/meta-data between datacenter components, and ii) designing new automation mechanisms to improve service agility (e.g., routing, scheduling, and traffic engineering). Selected students are expected to participate in implementing proof of concepts for these new ideas using languages such as Python, C/C++, P4. They might also work with tools such as TCPDUMP, Wireshark, Mininet, and DPDK. Besides, they will be exposed to and have the opportunity to learn, or refine skills in some or all of the following technologies:

  • Data Networking and TCP/IP stack.
  • Control and data plane in software-defined networking (SDN)
  • Network virtualization and containerization.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a university and registered with school's co-op program
  • Bachelors student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields
  • Excellent academic standing and demonstrated understanding of computer science fundamentals
  • Familiar with network protocols such as Ethernet, TCP / IP, AI.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
