Position Description

The Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society (CHSS) Centre for Research and Quality (CRQ) (http://data-center.chss.org/) is a unique North American collaboration of pediatric cardiac surgeons dedicated to research to find better treatment for children with congenital heart disease. We are seeking a highly qualified Data Analyst to work on a large multicentre research registry. Under the supervision of the program manager and study investigators, the data analyst's primary responsibilities will be the analysis, interpretation, visualization and reporting of scientific findings from multiple clinical studies.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:



Integrate data from various sources for analysis, clean and recode data as needed Extract data from existing databases/infrastructures using SQL Oversee data quality monitoring, including processing, management and cleaning Preparation of data summaries for research reports Work extensively in Python/R including the development of data functions that manage and analyze data Perform descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analyses using modern statistics and machine learning Communicate results in high-quality tables and figures Attend relevant meetings, courses or workshops as needed Assist students, trainees, etc. with data analyses

Here's What You'll Need:



+ MSc degree in a relevant quantitative discipline required (candidates with BSc + relevant course work and experience may be considered) 1-year relevant experience (experience acquired through relevant coursework can be considered) Excellent proficiency in statistics and machine learning using R and/or Python (preferably both) required Expert proficiency in data management and data manipulation is required Advanced knowledge of time-to-event (survival) analysis methods is required Experience with real-world clinical/medical data (e.g. irregularly-measured data with measurement error and missing values) preferred Evidence of advanced health or clinical research statistical skills (course work and practical experience) including competency in methods for handling sparse data with missing values required Previous experience working in the MS Azure environment is required Ability to create and deploy web applications (e.g. R shiny or other) a definite asset Knowledge of deep learning methods using images an asset Working knowledge of SAS and SAS macros an asset (to handle legacy code) Content expertise on congenital heart disease and/or cardiovascular surgery are a definite asset Proven ability to work with students/staff with limited statistics knowledge an asset Demonstrated creativity and latitude in problem solving and ability to troubleshoot analytical challenges Ability to prioritize and execute multiple competing tasks Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent attention to detail Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
Candidates will be asked to complete a skills assessment using either R or Python programming language
