Purpose of the position
Primary duty is to provide final accounting to shipments imported into Canada across various modes of transportation, paying close attention to the rules and regulations as set out in the Customs Act.

Key Tasks

  • Able to manage more complex shipments, with some assistance
  • May be required to carry afterhours phone evenings and weekend
  • Set up and release of assigned account shipments
  • Track and trace incoming shipments
  • Provide final accounting to CBSA for a set list of assigned accounts (Rating)
  • Arranging for payments of invoices to steamship lines, warehouses, government agencies
  • Arranging for transportation of cargo once released, and maintaining trucker relationships to maximize partnerships
  • Assist with data entry
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, such as the Code of Conduct, assigned work schedules, and attendance requirements.
  • Identify tasks that require special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibility
  • Arrange for deliveries
  • Provide input at team briefings
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational background / Work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CCS certification, or working towards
  • 3-5 years of customs experience
Language Skills
  • English & French fluency (written and spoken)
  • Secondary language, an asset
Computer Literacy
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
