Reporting to the Supervisor of Customer Accounting and Administration, this position is responsible for providing a full range of customer services in response to residential, commercial, and rural account service inquiries, complaints or service requests within the ATCO Electric Yukon service area. As the first contact for customers, the Customer Service Advisor, Entry Level is required to ensure prompt and personalized service and to promote and enhance the company's image in the community and relationship with customers.

What You Get to Do:

  • Work with customers, both in person and on the telephone, to respond to billing and service inquiries, connection and disconnection of service.
  • Monitor and evaluate accounts and initiate collection action as required, ensuring effective and appropriate outcomes.
  • Liaise directly with individual customers or as needed, social agencies, governments, or Yukon First Nations to seek or provide customer information and resolve customer related issues.
  • Coordinate field work with service personnel and process field work orders on the billing system.
  • Review and prepare payments for posting, receive bill payments and prepare bank deposits.
  • Update and maintain electronic databases and tracking documents as well as report reviews and analysis.
  • Willingness to continue learning new skills, technology, and utility industry specific knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of progressive office administration experience within a computerized environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel as well as Oracle platforms.
  • Accurate computer, keyboarding and calculator keying skills.
  • Experience handling cash and knowledge of cash balancing procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of company policies and practices.
  • Aptitude for prioritizing work in a fast-paced work environment
  • An orientation to deliver excellent customer service both in person and on the phone.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills when dealing with internal and external customers.
  • An ability to deal with confrontation and diffuse emotional situations.
  • An ability to work professionally and maintain confidentiality of customer information.
Whitehorse is a designated community and a comprehensive northern benefit package will be provided, including:
  • An additional 5% of base salary (northern allowance)
  • An additional $600 a month (northern allowance)
  • Additional 5 days' vacation for North of 60 positions
