We are currently seeking a
Custom Truck Assembly Shop Foreman
to lead day-to-day operations within our custom vehicle and equipment manufacturing division. This is a
hands-on leadership role
ideal for someone with strong technical and mechanical knowledge, experienced in a trades environment, and the ability to lead a team of 14 shop employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead by example and actively participate in mechanical and assembly work on the floor when required
Oversee daily operations of the custom assembly shop, ensuring effective workflow and task assignments.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity across all shop activities.
Ensure jobs are completed on time and to company specifications and standards.
Monitor workloads and allocate manpower efficiently to meet production targets.
Support and mentor apprentices and junior tradespeople; foster continuous learning and development.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve interdepartmental issues.
Assist in recruitment, conduct performance reviews, and provide performance management when required.
Help manage shop resources, including consumables, tooling, and equipment budgets.
Track and report on key performance metrics.
Qualifications:
Red Seal Certification in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Millwright, or equivalent trade (preferred, not required).
5+ years' experience in heavy-duty mechanical service or manufacturing environments.
Experience with 18-wheelers and commercial truck components is essential.
Background as a service writer or foreman in a service shop is an asset.
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a trades-based environment.
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused with a strong "get it done" mindset.
