The Position




The shishalh Nation Government is seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team. The Custodian plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, community members and visitors. This position supports the health and well-being of our Nation by ensuring that facilities in the CMS building, including Primary Care Clinic and exam rooms, are well-maintained and reflect the values of respect and pride in our community spaces.

The Candidate:



Perform rotating cleaning and sanitizing of Primary Care Clinic, exam rooms and washrooms of the Health Department. Perform daily cleaning of including offices, common areas, washrooms, meeting spaces and community facilities. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish furniture, floors and fixtures. Empty garbage and recycling receptacles and ensure waste is properly disposed of. Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, washroom products, and other necessary items. Perform minor maintenance duties such as reporting safety hazards and assisting with the set-up/tear-down of events. Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for all staff and community members. Respect and uphold the shishalh Nation's cultural protocols when working in community spaces. Perform all other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:




Previous experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaner is required. Knowledge of health care facility standards is an asset. Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and safely handle cleaning products. Knowledge of workplace safety practices (WHMIS certification an asset). Good physical condition and ability to perform duties that require lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Respectful and professional when interacting with staff, community members and visitors. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Dependable and trustworthy. Team player with a positive attitude. Culturally respectful and sensitive to the traditions and values of the shishalh Nation. Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. * A valid Driver's License is an asset.
