The Curriculum Strategist is pivotal in coordinating and enhancing curriculum within the Faculty of Science, focusing on creating interdisciplinary and transversal educational solutions. The Curriculum Strategist is instrumental in developing education programs tailored to the needs of diverse learners.


The role involves overseeing curriculum development and strategic initiatives within the Faculty of Science, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and global standards. This includes developing interdisciplinary research, teaching, and learning initiatives, supporting curriculum indigenization and decolonization, and collaborating with faculty, industry, and community partners to maintain relevance and responsiveness to local and international needs. The position also manages the introduction of innovative programs such as micro-credentials, monitors accreditation standards, and prepares reports on curriculum-related solutions. The Curriculum Strategist fosters community partnerships and actively participates in committees to further enhance educational offerings and outcomes.


Qualifications

PhD degree with a minimum of ten (10) years related experience in Natural Science Education and Research, Curriculum Development, or in a related field. Minimum five (5) years of related experience in curriculum development and academic planning in higher education. Demonstrated understanding of course and program approval processes, and ability to work collaboratively with faculty to revise curriculum material. Demonstrated understanding of 21st-century skills assessment, Indigenization, and decolonization of education, with familiarity in international dimensions and accreditations being a significant asset. Knowledge of curriculum design and alignment principles. Confident communicator and presenter: excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience in managing projects to completion, including strong qualitative research skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively, exhibiting respect for all colleagues in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, stay current and adapt to change. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Highly resourceful and organized; able to problem solve, creative with strong initiative skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Experience with BC Transfer Guide, Banner, and Adobe Pro preferred. Knowledge of UFV internal governance structure and processes, and knowledge of the BC post-secondary system preferred. Familiar with indigenization and decolonization practices in education. Experience with international educational frameworks and accreditation processes is highly desirable.
