Job Description


Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) is one of the two campuses of Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine. The main administrative office is located on the UNB Campus in Saint John. Reporting to the Simulated Patient Educators, the Curriculum Coordinator will administer and coordinate non-clinical elements of the Dal Med Skilled Clinician course curriculum, including recruitment, processing and assignment of volunteer patients and operational delivery of the curriculum and sessions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Consult and collaborate with UGME staff, Simulated Patient Educators and Director of the Skilled Clinician course to coordinate the development of unit schedules, ensure compliance of schedules to template, and coordinate the distribution and updates of unit syllabi.
  • Coordinate the recruitment and assignment of volunteer patients. Plan, organize and/or attend community, club and association events for the purpose of recruitment of simulated/volunteer patients.
  • Participate in the development of simulated/volunteer recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials. Create a database of prospective and current volunteers including those with clinical presentations. Create and distribute resource materials and develop strategies for recruitment.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures developed by UGME and to Promotion and Evaluation Regulations by both students and faculty.
  • Supervise exam invigilation. Assist in set-up and delivery of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (Med 1 - Med 4) and PIER sessions (PIER 1-4).
  • Act as a resource and greeter for students, faculty, and staff in the DMNB building as well as a resource to simulated and volunteer patients. Provide support to the Simulated Patient Educator as required. Attend and provide support as assigned to UGME committees and working groups.
Note

Some evening and weekend work is required. Scheduling and compensation will be in accordance with the collective agreement.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Business/Office Administrative program with approximately five years related work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proficiency with software packages, especially MS Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as database systems and ability to learn new programs.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills with the ability to work in a team environment and handle sensitive and confidential issues with considerable tact.
  • Strong organizational skills and initiative with the ability to independently manage and organize workload, multitask and meet a variety of deadlines.
Assets
  • Experience in a health professional education environment.
  • Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment.
  • Knowledge of SIM IQ, one-45, Brightspace and/or DalMedix.
