Job Summary:
Experienced General Manager who can deliver can high-quality service, address customer
complaints, and create a welcoming atmosphere. The General Manager, in cooperation with
the Board of Directors would be responsible for the following matters of the Club during the
peak season (September to April).
Peak Season Responsibilities:
Curling:
Maintaining membership records, processing registrations, and fostering a welcoming
environment for new and existing members
Manage the registration system and payment process
Seek out and coordinate the league convenors
Assist the Games Representative to coordinate, organize Bonspiels and other social
activities
Create and promote new events with Board approval, or as directed by the Board
Communicate with the Ice Tech on happenings in the club
Communicate with contracted maintenance staff and cleaners
Proactively seek and pursue opportunities to attract new curling members
Golf Simulators:
Schedule hours of operation and rental times using an online booking system
Coordinate and schedule the Golf Simulator attendants (could be staff or volunteers)
Promote golf simulator rentals using a variety of advertising tools
Hall Rentals and Events:
Hall rentals o Create and maintain a booking calendar for rental events
o Respond to inquiries, take reservations, set pricing, process contract agreement and
collect fees
Events o Act as bar manager (see below)
o Ensure facilities and equipment is clean, in good working order and is set up to
according to customer request
o Schedule and train (if required) volunteers
Bar
Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and minimize waste
Clean the bar and the space around it
Keep health, safety, and liquor licenses current
Analyze costs and sales statistics to create a budget and decide which cocktails and
menu items to promote
Negotiate with vendors
Kitchen: (Please note, the PCC does not have a restaurant. The kitchen is for events only.)
Assist with ordering, receiving, storage, and usage of food/ supplies during events
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulation and other relevant laws
Ensure the kitchen is maintained and is a clean and sanitary environment
Financials:
Use the Clover Pay System; provide monthly financial reports to board of directors
Interface with the PCC accountant on financial matters
Proactively seek out grants, subsidies, and other sources of funding for the club and
oversee the necessary applications for funding
Promotion & Social Media;
Proactively seek and pursue opportunities to attract curling/non-curling
events/business to the PCC during the curling season, including the ice, bar, simulators
and kitchen
Attract revenue-generating uses/rentals of the Club's facilities during the offseason,
including the bar, kitchen and simulators
Update and manage the website and social media
Seek revenue-generating uses/rentals of the club's facilities
Off Season Responsibilities:
Continue with Hall Rentals and Events (including bar)
Complete a full analysis of the peak season and develop a plan of action with goals and
suggestions to forward for the next season
Continue to promote the PCC facilities through social media platforms
Adjust our registration system following an analysis of the previous year
Continue to seek out grants, subsidies, and other sources of funding for the club and
oversee the necessary applications for funding
Continue to monitor and update our website
Communicate with contracted ground maintenance workers
Coordinate any property updates (painting, cleaning, repairs)
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience as a bar manager or bartender
Experience supervising others
Experience in managing social media and websites
Experience marketing and promotion of small business
Smart Serve Certification
A car and a valid driver's license
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other software
Asset Qualifications
Post-secondary education in hospitality management or a related discipline
Experience working in a sport or membership club facility
Knowledge of curling club operations and the sport of curling
Knowledge of golf simulator operations
Previous experience in event planning and management
Standard First Aid and CPR with AED
