This department is responsible for the attraction and facilitation of new business investment, and helping employers access the business opportunities of the area. They encourage and promote the creation of new Barrie-based enterprises, including start-ups and small business services. They also support the retention, growth, and expansion of the City's existing businesses. This includes bringing stakeholders together on strategic programs.The Cultural Assistant (Student) will work in the Economic and Creative Development Department supporting cultural programming alongside staff in Cultural Development and Public Art.   • Currently enrolled in or is a student in Secondary School, College, or University*
*Minimum of 16 years of age or turning 16 by the end of the calendar year and must have attended one of the academic establishments listed above the year in which they are applying for employment and/or returning the following yearExperience
  • Demonstrated experience performing duties related to the above-mentioned major responsibilities
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • maintain a high standard of public relations at all times
  • work collaboratively in a group setting to achieve a desired objective, goal, or outcome
  • work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic organizational, written and oral communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, graphic design programs, and the Internet
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
